The animal feed pellet mill process can roughly be described as a molding operation of the extrusion type. Feed ingredients are made up of various compounds such as proteins, acids, sugars, fibers, and minerals. These products can be softened (conditioned) by the addition of heat and water. The powdered material that has been tempered in the feed pellet mill is extruded through the ring die to make pellet feed. Therefore, the material, compression ratio, aperture and gap of the roller die will affect the animal feed production efficiency and pellet quality. The material of the ring die needs to have sufficient wear resistance and strength.
