OVERVIEW

A commercial broiler feed producer near Bhaktapur selected one RICHI SZLH250 poultry pellet machine 1000kg in Nepal to replace an older pelletizer that had become the main bottleneck in its existing feed mill. The factory already had ingredient receiving, grinding, batching, mixing, steam supply, cooling and bagging equipment, so it did not need another complete poultry feed production line.

The upgrade focused on the pelleting section. The previous machine operated at roughly half a tonne per hour, while the customer needed a practical production level around 1,000 kg/h with enough capacity margin for peak demand. The SZLH250, with a 22 kW main motor and a reference output of approximately 1–1.5 T/H for suitable compound-feed formulations, matched that requirement without forcing the customer to replace usable upstream and downstream equipment.

Why a 1000 kg/h Upgrade Made Sense for This Feed Mill

The customer is a regional poultry-feed producer rather than a large integrated industrial feed company.

Its business focuses on broiler feed supplied to farms around Bhaktapur, Kathmandu Valley and nearby districts.

The old pelletizer had originally been sufficient for a smaller production schedule, but as feed orders increased, the plant had to operate the pelleting section for longer hours.

This created a simple bottleneck.

Grinding and mixing could prepare more mash than the pelletizer could process, so the customer did not gain much by adding more upstream equipment.

Replacing one machine therefore gave the strongest capacity improvement for the least disruption.

The target was not an exact permanent output of 1,000 kg every hour under every formula.

The customer needed a pellet mill that could operate around that level while still providing some margin for formula changes, maintenance and differences in actual pelletizing resistance.

The SZLH250 is appropriate for a customer whose practical requirement is around 1 T/H but who does not want a machine operating permanently at its absolute limit.

At the lower end of the reference range, one tonne per hour corresponds directly to the customer’s nominal 1000 kg/h target.

At 1.5 T/H, the machine provides additional capacity where the formula and operating conditions allow it.

Actual output still depends on ingredient composition, particle size, mash moisture, steam quality, die configuration, pellet diameter and operator settings.

That is why the 1–1.5 T/H range is used as a reference rather than a guaranteed continuous result.

Daily Production Depends on Real Operating Hours

The relationship between hourly capacity and daily output needs to be stated clearly.

If the SZLH250 produces around 1 T/H for eight actual pelleting hours, theoretical daily output is approximately 8 tonnes before downtime and product changeovers.

At 1.5 T/H, the same eight pelleting hours correspond to approximately 12 tonnes.

This makes the machine suitable for a feed mill targeting roughly 8–10 tonnes per day under a normal production schedule.

However, the customer should not assume that an eight-hour work shift equals eight uninterrupted pelleting hours.

Time is also required for formula changes, die or roller inspection, cleaning, steam stabilization and minor production stops.

RICHI therefore compares required annual or daily tonnage with effective pelleting hours rather than only nominal shift length.

Nepal Broiler Feed Uses a Flexible Ingredient Base

The customer produces broiler compound feed using a mixture of cereal, protein, by-product and micro-ingredients available through the Nepal feed market.

Maize is an important energy ingredient, while rice bran or polish, wheat bran, soybean meal or cake, mustard cake and mineral or vitamin supplements can also be used depending on the formula.

The exact percentages should not be fixed as 45% maize, 25% wheat bran, 15% rice bran, 10% soybean meal and 4% mustard cake for every broiler feed.

Broiler starter, grower and finisher diets have different nutrient requirements.

Ingredient costs and availability also change.

The feed formulator therefore sets each formula first, then the pellet mill is adjusted to the physical behavior of that mash.

This is particularly important when bran or oilseed-cake levels change because fibre and oil can affect die resistance and pellet durability.

Starter Feed Should Not Be Treated as the Same Pellet as Finisher Feed

The original project description used a general 3–4 mm pellet size for broiler feed.

That is too broad for all production stages.

Very young chicks commonly require a smaller feed form, and a practical commercial route is to produce a parent pellet and then pass it through a crumbler for starter feed.

Grower and finisher feeds can use larger intact pellets according to bird age and customer specification.

The exact ring die hole size therefore depends on which broiler SKU is being produced.

This is more technically sound than claiming one 3–4 mm diameter is automatically optimal for every stage.

The downstream cooler and screener also need to match the selected product form.

Conditioning Is Adjusted to the Formula

The SZLH250 includes a 1.5 kW conditioner before the ring die.

Steam conditioning changes mash temperature and moisture and can improve pellet formation.

However, the system should not be operated around one universal moisture target such as 14–15% for every broiler formula.

Incoming mash condition varies with maize moisture, bran content, oil inclusion and storage conditions.

The correct operating window is established during commissioning.

The operator monitors pellet formation, motor current, throughput, fines and downstream cooling behavior while adjusting steam and feed rate.

This avoids one of the most common mistakes in feed-pellet cases: treating one conditioning temperature or moisture number as a permanent machine setting.

Pellet Quality Is a Complete-Line Result

One reason the customer replaced the older pelletizer was the need for more consistent physical feed quality.

But the SZLH250 feed pellet machine should not be marketed with a guaranteed PDI such as 90% or a fixed reduction in fines.

Pellet durability depends on several stages:

  1. grinding and particle-size distribution;
  2. ingredient composition and liquid inclusion;
  3. mixing uniformity;
  4. steam conditioning;
  5. ring die and roller configuration;
  6. cooling;
  7. screening and downstream conveying.

If the customer wants a numerical PDI target, it should be measured with a defined test method on the actual finished feed.

The pellet mill also does not independently improve broiler feed conversion ratio.

FCR depends on nutrition, health, genetics, housing, farm management and feed intake as well as feed physical quality.

The machine’s role is to produce a controlled physical form from the prepared feed mash.

The Existing Line Must Be Checked for 1–1.5 T/H

Replacing a 0.5 T/H pelletizer with an SZLH250 can move the plant bottleneck if the rest of the system is not checked.

The feed hammer mill has to supply enough material.

The mixer machine and batching section must prepare batches at a compatible rate.

A mash bin should provide enough buffer to keep the pellet mill supplied continuously.

The steam system must support the conditioner without unstable pressure.

The pellet cooler machine and screener must also accept the higher pellet flow.

If the old cooler was sized only for 0.5 T/H, it may need modification or replacement even though the pellet machine itself fits the site.

This line-balance check is especially important for single-machine upgrades because the customer wants to retain as much existing equipment as possible.

Power Supply and Installation in Nepal

The SZLH250 uses a 22 kW main motor, with additional power required for the feeder and conditioner.

The customer’s actual three-phase supply, voltage, frequency, transformer capacity and protection system need to be confirmed before installation.

Electrical design should not rely on one generic breaker or cable size.

The same principle applies to the foundation.

RICHI Machinery uses the delivered machine drawings and existing building conditions to determine support, anchoring, inlet elevation and discharge alignment.

The new pelletizer also needs adequate maintenance space for die and roller inspection.

For a retrofit, these interface measurements are often more important than the machine footprint alone.

Poultry Pellet Machine 1000kg in Nepal

This poultry pellet machine 1000kg in Nepal project uses one RICHI SZLH250 to upgrade a commercial broiler feed mill near Bhaktapur.

The machine is equipped with a 22 kW main motor, 1.1 kW feeder and 1.5 kW conditioner and provides a reference capacity of approximately 1–1.5 T/H for suitable compound-feed formulations.

The customer keeps its existing grinding, batching, mixing, cooling and packaging systems where they can support the new production rate.

The feed mill uses a flexible ingredient base built around maize, rice- and wheat-milling by-products, soybean meal or cake, mustard cake and appropriate micro-ingredients according to the broiler formula.

The SZLH250 handles the physical pelleting stage rather than determining the nutrition formula.

Starter feed can be produced through a parent-pellet and crumbling route, while grower and finisher products use pellet sizes matched to bird stage and customer requirements.

For another buyer searching for a poultry pellet machine 1000kg in Nepal, 1 T/H poultry feed pellet machine, chicken feed pelletizer Nepal, SZLH250 poultry feed pellet mill, broiler feed pellet machine or 1000 kg/h animal feed pellet machine, RICHI first checks whether the existing plant can actually support one tonne per hour or more.

Useful project information includes current pelletizer capacity, daily feed target, broiler feed stages, main ingredients, particle size after grinding, mixer batch size, steam availability, cooler capacity, electrical supply and the equipment the customer wants to retain.

If the plant currently produces only about 500 kg/h because the old pelletizer is undersized, replacing that machine with an SZLH250 can be a practical upgrade.

If the mixer, cooler or steam system is also limited to 500 kg/h, those sections need to be reviewed before commissioning.

For a Nepal poultry-feed retrofit, send RICHI your current T/H, target daily tonnage, feed formulas, required pellet or crumble sizes, operating hours and existing equipment list. These parameters allow the SZLH250 to be selected around the real 1000 kg/h production requirement rather than a catalogue number alone.
