An Ontario feed mill uses one SZLH350 chicken feed pellet machine to produce broiler grower and finisher pellets at a reference capacity of 5–6 T/H.

A regional commercial feed mill in Ontario selected one SZLH350 Chicken Feed Pellet Making Machine in Canada to strengthen its broiler-feed pelleting section without rebuilding the complete factory. The plant already had grain receiving, grinding, batching, mixing, steam supply, cooling, crumbling, screening and bagging equipment, so the purchase focused on one ring-die pellet mill.
The SZLH350 uses a 55 kW main motor, 1.5 kW feeder, 4 kW conditioner and 350 mm ring die, with a reference capacity of about 5–6 T/H for suitable poultry-feed formulations. The machine is used mainly for grower and finisher pellets, while starter feed can be pelleted and then crumbled downstream to obtain a smaller particle form for young broilers.

The customer needed more pelleting capacity, but the surrounding feed mill still had usable equipment. Installing one larger feed pellet mill allowed the factory to improve the bottleneck while keeping its grinders, mixer machines, pellet cooler, pellet crumbler, bins and packing section in service. This makes the project a targeted machine upgrade rather than a new chicken feed production line.

A 5–6 T/H feed pellet machine only makes sense when prepared mash, steam and downstream cooling can support that instantaneous flow. The customer therefore checks mixer batch weight, batch cycle, buffer volume, steam availability and cooler capacity together with pellet-mill output. If any of those sections can handle only 3 T/H, the SZLH350 cannot deliver useful 5–6 T/H production.
Ontario provides a realistic ingredient base for commercial broiler feed, including corn and soybeans from local agricultural supply chains, while wheat products and Canadian canola meal can also enter formulas when nutrition and delivered cost support them. Imported protein ingredients may still be used, but the mill does not depend on one fixed national or cross-border procurement route for every batch.
The factory does not use a permanent 50% corn, 30% soybean meal formula for all birds. Starter, grower and finisher feeds differ in energy density, amino-acid balance, mineral requirements, fibre tolerance and economic targets. Corn, soybean meal, wheat ingredients, canola meal, vegetable oil, minerals, vitamins and amino acids are proportioned by the nutrition program before mash reaches the pellet mill.
Canadian canola meal can be a useful protein ingredient, but its fibre level and amino-acid profile differ from soybean meal. It is therefore included according to formulation requirements rather than treated as a simple kilogram-for-kilogram replacement. From the pellet mill perspective, the important factors are the resulting mash bulk density, fibre, moisture, fat level and how the complete blend responds to steam conditioning.
Whole corn and other coarse grains are ground before batching so the mixer receives a controlled particle distribution. Premixes, amino acids and already-fine minerals normally bypass unnecessary grinding and are added through suitable dosing points. The plant avoids overgrinding because excessive fines increase dust and energy demand without automatically improving pellet quality or broiler performance.
The Chicken Feed Making Machine in Canada receives fully mixed mash rather than separate raw materials. A representative route is cleaning and grinding where required, accurate batching, mixing, buffering, steam conditioning, ring-die pelleting, cooling, crumbling for starter products, screening and then storage or packing. The SZLH350 performs the forming stage and does not replace the functions around it.
Steam conditioning prepares the mash for compression by adding controlled heat and moisture before it reaches the ring die. The practical setting depends on cereal starch, protein, fibre, added fat, incoming mash moisture and the physical pellet target. One permanent conditioning moisture or temperature should not be assigned to every Canadian broiler formula, because the same setting can behave differently across product stages.
Starter feed is better handled through pelleting followed by crumbling than by forcing the SZLH350 to produce extremely small direct pellets for every batch. Grower and finisher products can use intact pellets around the 3–4.5 mm class when the farm specification supports them. The exact diameter is a physical feed specification, not evidence that one size will automatically improve growth or feed efficiency.
Pellet diameter and mash particle size are separate engineering variables. A 3 mm pellet does not require every grain particle to be exactly 3 mm, and a feed hammer mill screen does not create a single finished particle size. The customer controls the grinding distribution so coarse fragments do not disrupt die flow while avoiding excessive ultrafine material that can raise dust, electrical demand and segregation risk.
Broiler formulas often contain added oil for energy density, but high free oil before pelleting can reduce friction inside the die and make strong pellet formation more difficult. The mill coordinates oil addition with pellet quality and nutrition targets instead of maximizing pre-pellet liquid addition. Where the plant has suitable downstream equipment, part of the liquid can be applied after pellet formation when the formula requires it.
The 5–6 T/H reference rate is not guaranteed for every broiler feed. Small die holes, higher fibre, increased pre-pellet fat, poor steam quality, coarse mash, die wear or a demanding durability target can reduce usable throughput. The customer therefore tracks motor load, feeder rate, pellet appearance and fines together, using tonnes per hour as one operating measure rather than the only indicator of stable production.
The cooler has to accept the instantaneous output of the SZLH350, not the mill's average daily tonnage. Pellets leave the die warm and relatively soft, then need controlled airflow before screening, storage or bagging. A cooler rated below the real pelleting rate would create a bottleneck immediately, so retrofit planning verifies cooler capacity and discharge arrangement before the pellet mill is operated near its upper range.
Cooling is not a substitute for moisture control before pelleting. If mash enters the conditioner with unsuitable moisture or receives excessive steam, the cooler should not be expected to remove a large water load and restore storage stability. The mill uses finished-feed temperature and moisture checks to confirm that pellets are ready for screening and storage rather than relying on a fixed cooler residence time.
Screening after cooling separates qualified pellets from fines and broken material. A rising fines fraction can indicate insufficient conditioning, unsuitable particle distribution, excessive fat, die wear, roller setting or rough downstream handling. The operator uses this information to investigate the process instead of assuming every physical-quality issue should be solved by increasing compression or slowing the machine.
Pellet durability cannot be assigned one guaranteed percentage to the SZLH350 because formulation and process conditions strongly influence the result. The same machine can produce different physical quality when cereal composition, fibre, fat, conditioning, die condition or cooling differs. The feed mill measures pellet quality against its commercial specification using a consistent test method rather than promising a fixed PDI increase.
The pellet mill does not independently improve broiler feed efficiency, growth rate or flock health. Those outcomes depend on genetics, nutrient balance, ingredient quality, housing, ventilation, health management, water and farm practices as well as physical feed quality. The machine's role is to form conditioned mash into a controlled pellet that can be cooled, screened and distributed according to the feed manufacturer's specification.
The SZLH350 chicken poultry feed pellet machine uses a 55 kW main drive, 1.5 kW feeder and 4 kW conditioner, but the pelleting section also depends on conveyors, steam generation, cooling, screening and dust-control equipment. Electrical planning therefore checks transformer capacity, motor starting, protection and simultaneous load instead of sizing the site connection from the 55 kW main motor alone.
A stable steam supply is as important as installed motor power. The conditioner needs appropriate pressure, condensate management and insulation so steam reaches the mash consistently during production. Canadian winter conditions make protection of exposed steam and condensate lines particularly relevant, but the pellet mill itself should operate in a suitable industrial building rather than being marketed as a special winter-specific machine.
Ontario is far from Canada's west coast, but a trans-Pacific shipment can still enter through Vancouver and continue east by intermodal rail before final road delivery. The logistics plan depends on vessel service, cargo dimensions, inland terminal selection and the customer's exact Ontario location. The article therefore does not assign a fixed ocean duration, customs period or cross-country trucking schedule.
Installation planning covers the mash-bin outlet, feeder inlet, foundation, maintenance clearance, steam connection, electrical routing, pellet discharge elevation and the interface with the cooler. The 350 mm ring-die platform also needs enough service space for die and roller work. A standalone machine can fit an established mill only when these physical interfaces are checked before positioning.
If broiler-feed demand increases, the first step is to review actual daily operating hours on the SZLH350. A machine running only part of one shift can often supply more annual tonnage by extending scheduled production before another pellet mill is justified. The plant also checks grinding, mixing, steam, cooling, crumbling, storage and packing so expansion investment goes to the section that truly limits saleable feed.
A second SZLH350 would provide about 10–12 T/H of combined reference pelleting capacity under suitable formulations, but that number does not become complete factory capacity automatically. Parallel pellet mills would require enough prepared mash, steam, cooling, conveying and electrical infrastructure to support them. The customer should add another machine only after the installed unit becomes a demonstrated bottleneck.
A Chicken Feed Pellet Making Machine in Canada should be selected from required hourly pellet output, operating hours and the capacity of the surrounding feed mill rather than from national poultry production figures. RICHI Machinery would review broiler stages, formula ingredients, pellet and crumble sizes, mixer batch rate, steam supply, cooler capacity, electrical conditions, bagging method and future sales before confirming the model.
For an Ontario plant that already has a balanced 5–6 T/H preparation and cooling system, the SZLH350 provides a practical standalone pelleting scale. A smaller feed business may be better served by the SZLH250 or SZLH320, while a much larger commercial plant may need a higher-capacity model. The correct machine is the one that can be utilized consistently without forcing unnecessary upgrades throughout the rest of the factory.
