3–4 T/H Duck Pellet Production Machine for Feed System in Panama

Duck Pellet Production Machine for Feed System in Panama: SZLH320 application for scheduled duck-feed batches, 4 mm pellets and screened starter crumbles.

3–4 T/H Duck Pellet Production Machine for Feed System in Panama

OVERVIEW

A small duck-feed order still needs its own production plan. At a mill that mainly makes chicken feed, it can involve a different formula, a crumbler setting and enough running time for steam conditioning to settle. A duck pellet production machine has to fit that routine.

This illustrative application considers an independent poultry feed manufacturer near David, in Panama’s Chiriquí Province. The purchase brief is one replacement feed pellet machine for an existing mill serving regional farms and agricultural dealers. Grinding, mixing, cooling, crumbling and bagging equipment remain part of the customer’s system. Duck feed is a scheduled product within that business.

Six tonnes of duck feed, scheduled together

The planning basis is a six-tonne duck-feed campaign every two weeks. At 3 tonnes per hour, that requires two productive pelleting hours, with additional time for preparation, warm-up and cleaning. Twenty-five campaigns represent 150 tonnes annually before screening losses.

Across all poultry products, the mill’s planning allowance is 3 tonnes per hour for four productive hours daily over 200 operating days: 2,400 tonnes annually. This separates the duck-feed requirement from total press utilisation and gives the equipment a workable role beyond occasional specialist orders.

The candidate is the SZLH320 Poultry Feed Pellet Machine. Its published general feed capacity is 3–4 tonnes per hour; the 3-tonne hourly application target requires confirmation with the actual duck formula. A larger press would need more supporting capacity and could spend too much of each small campaign warming up or emptying.

Parameter Reference specification or application target
Machine One SZLH320 ring die feed pellet mill
Main motor 37 kW
Feeder motor 1.5 kW
Conditioner motor 2.2 kW
Combined listed motor power 40.7 kW, excluding other mill equipment
Ring die inner diameter 320 mm
Published general feed capacity 3–4 tonnes/hour
Application planning rate 3 tonnes/hour before screening
Whole pellet target 4 mm diameter, 6–10 mm long
Starter product target Screened 1–2 mm crumbles using the existing crumbler

What the feed needs to withstand at the farm

For this application, starter feed for approximately the first two weeks is supplied as screened crumbles. Grower and finisher formulas use whole 4 mm pellets, subject to the farm’s breed and feeding programme. Nutrition changes between stages are handled through formulation; changing the pellet diameter is a separate equipment decision.

The same 4 mm die can make parent pellets for crumbling and whole pellets for older birds. The cutter sets pellet length. Another diameter requires another ring die. The crumbler and screens determine the starter crumble distribution, with oversize material reprocessed and fines handled through a controlled return route.

Pellets need to tolerate conveying, bag handling and delivery without excessive powder. Feed near drinkers can become wet, but a twenty-minute immersion test is not a universal duck-feed requirement. Keeping feeders dry and maintaining drinkers remain important. Wet feed requires removal under the farm’s hygiene programme, regardless of pellet hardness.

Maize and soybean meal form the processing base

The proposed ingredient basket uses maize and soybean meal, with rice bran or wheat milling by-products where supply and analysis support their inclusion. These materials fit Panama’s feed supply structure, including imported maize and soybean meal. Oil, limestone, phosphate, salt and a duck-specific premix complete the nutritionist’s formulation.

For machinery trials, the starting mash moisture target is 12–14% on a wet basis. Whole maize passes through the existing animal feed hammer mill; incoming meal is checked for lumps and contamination. Ground cereal is provisionally assessed against a geometric mean particle size of 0.8–1.2 mm. Screen aperture alone cannot confirm that size distribution.

Rice bran needs attention to moisture, residual oil and freshness. Increasing bran or added oil can change pellet binding and die load. Ingredient substitutions therefore need a production trial, rather than carrying the previous settings forward automatically. Mycotoxin screening is also relevant to maize acceptance, particularly for duck feed.

Conditioning has to settle before output is judged

Steam conditioning is specified around the mash and required throughput. Conditioner length alone does not establish retention time. At 3 tonnes per hour, an effective material hold-up of 25 kg corresponds to thirty seconds; the actual working hold-up must be measured.

The trial should establish conditioning temperature, residence time and moisture together. Steam demand cannot be assigned as a fixed percentage without the incoming mash condition. A separator, pressure regulation and functioning condensate traps help avoid uncontrolled water entering the feed.

Die compression is selected through trials with the intended formula. Higher resistance can improve pellet integrity while restricting output or increasing load. Acceptance should consider weighed output, motor current, screened fines and pellet durability after cooling, with additional samples taken after delivery to a farm.

The useful comparison is saleable feed per campaign. Warm-up material, rework and clean-out residues belong in that calculation. A short peak-rate test would say little about the economics of a six-tonne order.

The single-machine order includes the interfaces

Before manufacture, the supplier needs the mixer machine discharge height, mash bin outlet, cooler inlet and available lifting access. At 3 tonnes per hour, a 500 kg usable mash buffer covers ten minutes. The existing cooler and crumbler must accommodate the proposed rate without becoming the next restriction.

The electrical package must suit Panama’s 60 Hz supply. Three-phase voltage is confirmed from the customer’s panel and transformer records before motors, controls and protection are specified. Motor and transmission selection must maintain the intended die speed. The listed 40.7 kW is a reference motor total, not measured electricity consumption.

One trained operator is allocated to the pelleting section, with shared mixing, packing and boiler staff. A six-tonne campaign corresponds to 150 bags at a chosen 40 kg packing weight, before losses. Maintenance drawings should show die removal space, lifting points and access to the feeder and conditioner.

Delivery planning can assess Qingdao to Balboa, followed by road transport to David. Sailing availability, inland haulage and unloading are confirmed by quotation. The support scope should identify installation drawings, commissioning assistance and compatible die and roller spares.

For a Panama duck-feed system enquiry, send RICHI Machinery the expected tonnes per order, ingredient analyses, required crumble and pellet sizes, and existing cooler details. Those records allow the pellet machine proposal to address batch turnover and finished-feed handling alongside hourly capacity.
