The Czech Republic has a well-developed poultry industry, with feed mills supplying broiler and layer farms across the country and exporting to neighboring Slovakia, Poland, and Austria.
The feed plant we worked with produces approximately 180,000 tons of poultry feed annually and had been operating with older belt-driven pelletizers that were becoming inefficient. The plant manager wanted to replace them with high-efficiency direct-drive units to reduce energy costs and increase output.

Before contacting us, the plant had evaluated pelletizers from German and Austrian manufacturers. The equipment was excellent but had lead times exceeding 10 months. A feed industry consultant who had visited RICHI's factory in Jiaozuo recommended our SZLH series for high-efficiency operation. The plant already had a complete upstream system. What they needed was a chicken feed pelletizer that could operate at lower energy consumption while maintaining or increasing output.
After a detailed review of their requirements, we recommended the SZLH420 ring die pellet mill with a 110kW main motor, featuring a direct-drive gearbox with 97% efficiency.
Belt-driven feed pellet mills lose 5-8% of energy through belt slippage and friction. The SZLH420 poultry feed pellet machine's direct-drive gearbox eliminates these losses. Additionally, the gearbox requires less maintenance than belt systems.

"This chicken feed pelletizer with high efficiency operation has exceeded our expectations. The direct-drive gearbox is much quieter than our old belt-driven units, and the energy savings are significant—about 250,000 kWh per year.
The mill runs about 16 hours per day, 6 days per week. We have put about 7,000 hours on it. We have not had any belt-related downtime because there are no belts.
The only issue was during installation—the direct-drive unit is heavier, so we needed to reinforce the floor. RICHI provided the foundation specifications.

The SZLH420 feed pellet machine was shipped from Qingdao to the Port of Hamburg, then by truck to Ostrava. Total transit time was about 45 days.
