Explore an SZLH350 cattle feed pellet machine in Nepal for 8 mm dairy concentrate pellets, with material preparation, capacity planning and mill integration.

Replacing a pellet press only helps if the new machine can run on the ingredients the mill buys every week. For a dairy feed producer, maize quality, bran moisture and oilcake consistency matter as much as motor power.
This application example for a cattle feed pellet machine in Nepal considers an independent feed mill in Chitwan supplying agricultural dealers and dairy farms. Its customers keep milking cows and buffaloes. The mill needs a replacement press for its existing grinding, mixing, cooling and bagging equipment, with a planning target of 5–6 tonnes per hour of concentrate pellets.
Name:
Cattle Feed Pelletizer
Country:
Nepal
Date:
2026
Capacity:
5–6 tonnes/hour
Model:
SZLH350
Main Motor Power:
55 kW
Ring die inner diameter:
350 mm
Pellet diameter:
8 mm
The intended product is a supplementary concentrate for adult dairy animals. Farmers would feed it alongside grass, hay, rice straw or silage, following a ration prepared for their animals. Long forage stays outside this pellet formula; the press is sized for a grain, bran and protein meal blend.
The selected pellet diameter is 8 mm, with a target length of 10–20 mm. Diameter is determined by the ring die holes. Changing to another diameter requires a different die; the cutter controls length. Actual dimensions and the proportion of fines need checking after cooling and handling.
The commercial requirement is straightforward: pellets should reach the dealer in usable condition and flow out of the bag without excessive powder. That calls for testing the finished feed after a representative delivery journey, as well as at the cooler outlet.
The proposed ingredient basket includes maize, wheat bran, rice bran, mustard oilcake, soybean meal, salt and a mineral-vitamin premix. These ingredients provide a practical starting point for a Nepalese dairy concentrate. Their proportions belong to the mill’s nutritionist, using ingredient analyses and the intended feeding rate.
For the equipment trial, incoming dry mash is provisionally specified at 12–14% moisture on a wet basis. Each delivery needs sampling because damp maize and variable bran can change conditioner response. Storage should keep bags off the floor, protect them from rain and allow stock rotation. Pelleting cannot recover spoiled ingredients.
Maize and coarse oilcake are ground before mixing. A provisional sieve test target is a geometric mean particle size of 1.5–2.5 mm for the ground maize, subject to pellet trials. Hammer mill screen holes alone do not establish that distribution. Bran is inspected for lumps and foreign matter; magnets and screening protect the press.
Rice bran and oilcake also bring variable residual oil. If a cheaper ingredient lot raises mash fat or changes fibre content, the same die settings may produce softer pellets or reduce throughput. The operator needs a record of ingredient changes when comparing production runs.
The SZLH350 Cattle Feed Pellet Making Machine is the candidate for this application. Its published general feed rating is 5–7 tonnes per hour. The narrower 5–6 tonnes per hour planning range below must be demonstrated with the selected dairy formula, 8 mm die and available steam.
| Item | Configuration or planning basis |
|---|---|
| Equipment | One SZLH350 ring die feed pellet mill |
| Main motor | 55 kW |
| Feeder motor | 1.5 kW |
| Conditioner motor | 3 kW |
| Combined listed motor power | 59.5 kW, excluding existing plant equipment |
| Ring die inner diameter | 350 mm |
| Application throughput target | 5–6 tonnes/hour, subject to material trials |
| Finished pellet dimensions | 8 mm diameter; target length 10–20 mm |
| Electrical design basis | 400 V, three-phase, 50 Hz; confirm site supply |
Die compression ratio would be selected from trials with the actual blend. A longer working channel can increase resistance and durability, but may restrict output. The useful setting is the one that meets handling quality without unstable motor load or repeated blockage.
The production plan uses 5 tonnes per hour for six productive hours daily over 250 operating days: 30 tonnes per day, or 7,500 tonnes annually at the press. These are planning quantities before screening losses and product held for checks. Cleaning, warm-up and formula changes require additional shift time.
A 1-tonne mixer machine would need a complete filling, mixing and discharge cycle within ten minutes to supply 6 tonnes per hour. At the 5-tonne hourly planning rate, a 1-tonne usable mash buffer provides twelve minutes of feed. Both figures are interface checks for the existing mill, rather than reasons to buy another mixer automatically.
The cooler, elevators and bagging station also need review. Packing 30 tonnes into 40 kg bags means 750 bags daily. The layout must leave access for die removal, roller servicing and lifting equipment. One trained press operator can supervise this section, while existing staff handle mixing, packing and boiler duties.
Electrical checks cover starting current, protective devices, cable capacity and voltage under load. Steam checks cover available boiler output, pressure at the conditioner and condensate removal. A separator, working traps and insulated pipework help deliver consistent steam.
Commissioning would begin below target feed rate. The operator records mash moisture, conditioning temperature, motor current, throughput and pellet condition. A provisional conditioning trial window of 75–80°C is a starting point to refine with ingredient and premix suppliers.
After cooling, samples are checked for moisture, dimensions, durability and fines. The Counterflow Pellet Cooler must be assessed under the actual intake air temperature and humidity. Bagging begins only when the agreed product specification is met. No fixed shelf life or milk yield increase can be assigned from the press model alone.
An acceptance run should cover both the maize-rich and bran-rich formulas the mill intends to sell. Power consumption is measured from the meter against weighed output; motor nameplate power is insufficient for an energy-cost calculation. Sampling and test methods should be agreed before the run.
The initial spare parts package should identify the 8 mm ring die, compatible roller shells and routine wear parts by drawing number. Stock quantities depend on expected tonnage and replenishment time to Chitwan.
For inland delivery, a quotation can assess shipment from Qingdao through Kolkata or Haldia, onward through Birgunj and by road to Chitwan. The forwarder must confirm the available service and customs arrangements. Packing and unloading plans should cover moisture protection, lifting points and storage before installation.
When enquiring about a cattle feed pellet machine in Nepal, send RICHI Machinery the ingredient breakdown, recent moisture results, required pellet dimensions and photographs of the existing press area. Add mixer batch times, cooler capacity and steam details. Those records allow a proposal to define the die, interfaces, trial criteria and spare parts that this mill actually needs.
