Uganda 9 T/H Elephant Grass Pellet Project Reaches Main Machine Assembly

Main equipment assembly is progressing at RICHI Machinery for a 9 t/h elephant grass pellet project ordered by a customer in Uganda.

The future plant will use cultivated elephant grass as its principal biomass source, supported by selected compatible agricultural residues when available.

The customer intends to produce mainly 8 mm pellets for industrial biomass fuel applications.

The unusual part of this project is not pellet diameter. It is the amount of water and fiber that can arrive with the grass before pellet production even begins.

Fresh Harvest Weight Is Not Finished Pellet Weight

Elephant grass can contain substantial moisture when harvested.

That means the mass collected from the field cannot be treated as equivalent to final pellet output.

If wet grass enters the plant, a significant portion of that incoming weight may leave during drying as water vapor.

The upstream handling and drying systems therefore need to process more wet material than the finished pellet tonnage suggests.

This mass-balance point was central to the engineering stage before manufacturing began.

Coarse Preparation Is Being Built for Long Fibrous Material

Fresh or partially dried elephant grass can arrive in long pieces that are unsuitable for direct fine grinding.

The project includes upstream size reduction before controlled drying and finer preparation.

The purpose is to create a more manageable material stream rather than overload fine equipment with long, uneven fibers.

Manufacturing Progress Is Following the Material Route

The current assembly work includes the main biomass preparation, drying-related handling and pellet-production systems.

Conveying equipment and downstream cooling and screening will follow the approved flow.

The customer is preparing the corresponding site in Uganda while manufacturing continues.

Storage Planning Must Follow the Harvest Cycle

The project also depends on how the customer organizes grass harvesting.

Elephant grass production is agricultural, not continuous industrial manufacturing.

The plant needs enough raw-material planning to avoid periods when the pellet line is available but the feedstock supply is not.

Storage conditions also need to limit uncontrolled moisture changes before processing.

The Next Factory Stage Will Move from Assembly to Inspection

Once the major machines are assembled, RICHI will begin the corresponding inspection and pre-shipment preparation.

Actual capacity confirmation will come only after installation in Uganda using the customer's real grass.

The 9 t/h biomass pellet project is therefore being built around a simple engineering reality: before biomass can become pellets, the factory must first deal with the water, fiber and seasonal supply that arrive from the field.
