Sri Lanka Biomass Project Begins Overseas Delivery with 3-3.5 T/H Pellet Equipment from RICHI

Equipment for a 3.5 t/h coconut shell and wood residue pellet project has begun its journey from RICHI Machinery to Sri Lanka.

The future plant will use residues available from two local processing chains: coconut shells generated after coconut processing and clean sawdust or shavings from untreated wood-processing activities. The customer plans to convert these materials into 6–8 mm fuel pellets for suitable industrial energy applications.

The two feedstocks will eventually meet at the pelletizing section. Before that point, however, they require very different treatment.

Coconut Shells Arrive as a Hard, Coarse Feedstock

Coconut shells cannot enter the fine pelletizing preparation stage in their original pieces.

The shell stream first requires coarse size reduction before further preparation can take place.

Its hardness also places different demands on crushing equipment from those created by loose sawdust.

The biomass pellet project therefore preserves a dedicated preparation logic for the shell material rather than forcing both raw materials through every machine.

Sawdust Can Take the Shorter Route—When Its Condition Allows

Clean sawdust may already be relatively fine when it arrives from a woodworking operation.

If its particle size is acceptable, unnecessary coarse crushing can be bypassed.

Moisture still needs to be checked.

Wet sawdust cannot be treated as ready for pelletizing simply because it is already small.

The eventual route at the Sri Lankan plant will therefore depend on both particle condition and moisture.

Equipment Was Packed Around These Two Material Streams

Before dispatch, RICHI organized the machines and auxiliary components according to the approved layout.

Shell-preparation equipment, wood-material handling, common pellet production equipment and downstream systems were identified separately.

The arrangement should make it easier for the site team to understand how the two preparation routes reconnect during installation.

Local Materials Will Decide the Final Settings

RICHI Machinery can establish equipment specifications and preliminary operating ranges before shipment, but the final settings belong to the customer's actual biomass.

After installation in Sri Lanka, trial production will determine how the local coconut shell breaks, how much moisture needs to be removed, how the sawdust feeds and how the selected material combination performs during pellet formation.

No permanent blend percentage has been imposed on the customer.

The overseas delivery now underway moves the project closer to that stage. What left the RICHI factory as separate machines will next be assembled around the biomass resources available at the customer's Sri Lankan operation.
