RICHI Signs 5 T/H Rice Husk Pellet Production Line Project in Vietnam

RICHI MACHINERY has officially signed a 5-ton-per-hour rice husk pellet production line project in northern Vietnam, expanding the company’s footprint in Southeast Asia’s biomass energy sector. This project is aimed at converting rice husk, a common agricultural residue, into high-density biomass pellets suitable for industrial boilers and renewable energy applications.

Market Background and Project Rationale

Vietnam is one of the world’s leading rice producers, generating millions of tons of rice husk annually. Traditionally, rice husks have been underutilized, often burned in open fields, which contributes to air pollution. The Vietnamese government has promoted biomass energy utilization as part of its renewable energy strategy, creating strong local demand for pelletized biomass fuels.

The customer, an agricultural cooperative with multiple rice mills, sought a solution to efficiently transform husks into uniform pellets with high calorific value, stable density, and low moisture content.

Raw Material Characteristics and Process Challenges

Rice husks contain silica, which is abrasive and can cause wear on conventional pelletizing equipment. Moisture content ranges from 12–18% depending on drying conditions. The pelletizing process must carefully balance compression to avoid dust generation while maintaining pellet durability.

Technical Solution and Equipment Configuration

RICHI engineers designed a tailored line capable of producing 5 T/H, incorporating:

• Rice husk feeding and pre-crushing system
• Hammer mill with reinforced rotor
• Rotary dryer for moisture control
• MZLH series biomass pellet mill optimized for fibrous and abrasive biomass
• Counterflow cooler
• Vibrating screen to separate fines
• Automatic bagging and palletizing system

The rice husk pellet machine features a forced feeding system to maintain consistent throughput, and the dryer ensures moisture levels in finished pellets remain below 10%.

Project Timeline and Installation

Contract signing occurred in December 2025. Equipment manufacturing commenced immediately, with shipment scheduled for March 2026. On-site installation is planned for April, followed by commissioning and operator training. Commercial operation is expected to begin by mid-2026.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

The new rice husk pellet line provides a sustainable waste-to-energy solution, reduces open-field burning, and creates an additional revenue stream for local farmers. It also demonstrates RICHI’s capacity to design equipment specifically suited to high-silica biomass materials.
