Their existing single-shaft paddle mixer and simple pellet mill couldn't achieve the necessary water stability. Pellets disintegrated within 30-40 minutes, leading to poor feed conversion and water quality issues. The farm manager decided to invest in a specialized shrimp feed pelleting machine with a triple-conditioning system.
The farm manager explained the situation: "Black tiger shrimp are sensitive to water quality. If feed breaks apart, it pollutes the ponds. We needed a pelleting machine that could produce water-stable pellets that last 2-3 hours. The triple conditioner is the key."
The farm had a small shrimp feed production line with a hammer mill, mixer, and an old pellet mill. They decided to upgrade to a specialized shrimp feed pelleting machine.

Customs clearance in Manila took about 5 days. Total landed cost was about 20% higher than the FOB price.
Installation took three weeks. The old pellet mill was moved to a backup location. The new SZLH320 was positioned on a reinforced concrete foundation (200mm thick). The electrical hookup required 380V, 60Hz three-phase (Philippines uses 60Hz). RICHI provided a 60Hz-compatible motor. The 37kW motor required a 100-amp breaker.
The first test run was with juvenile shrimp formula (2.0mm die). The triple conditioner added steam in three stages:
The pellet mill ran smoothly at 0.7 tons/hour. Water stability test: 2.5 hours. Pellet durability (PDI) was 95% – excellent for shrimp feed.
After six months of operation, the farm manager documented the following results:

The machine cost delivered approximately $45,000 USD (about €41,000). Payback period was about 1-2 months based on FCR improvement alone.
"Shrimp feed must be water-stable. Our old pellets disintegrated in 30 minutes. The shrimp couldn't eat them in time. The ponds got dirty.
The SZLH320 with triple conditioning changed everything. Three stages of steam – 60°C, 75°C, then 85°C. The starch is fully gelatinized. The pellets last 2.5 hours in water.
Our FCR dropped from 1.9 to 1.7. That's 400 tons less feed per year. The shrimp are healthier – survival up from 70% to 82%.
Would I recommend this machine? Yes. For any shrimp farm, triple conditioning is essential for water stability."
