Feed Plant Bagging Scale in Algeria: DCS-50W for 25 kg feed bags, with gravity feeding, weight checks and a packing schedule matched to a 10,000 T/Y mill.

For a poultry producer establishing a feed mill near Blida, the bagging purchase comes down to two questions: will each bag contain the right amount, and can the operators finish bags as quickly as the mill produces feed? This illustrative application of a feed plant bagging scale in Algeria examines a DCS-50W gravity-fed station for a planned 10,000-tonne annual business.
The owner is moving from buying feed into producing for the farm and neighbouring poultry businesses. Grinding, mixing, pelleting and cooling equipment are procured separately. The RICHI purchase covers one weighing and filling station with an agreed bag-conveying and sewing arrangement.
Name:
Feed Plant Bagging Scale
Country:
Algeria
Date:
2026
Capacity:
2–3 bags/minute
Model:
DCS-50W
Main Motor Power:
0.92 kW
Theoretical mass rate:
3,000–4,500 kg/h
net bag weight:
25 kg
The production plan uses 3 T/H over two shifts, with 14 productive hours per day on 240 operating days. That gives 10,080 tonnes before production losses, broadly matching the 10,000-tonne target. An eight-hour single shift at the same hourly rate would not support that annual volume.
At 25 kg per bag, a 42-tonne production day requires 1,680 bags. Across a 16-hour packing window, the completed-bag average must reach 105 bags per hour, including normal interruptions.
The DCS-50W Automatic Packing Machine’s published filling speed is 2–3 bags per minute. At 25 kg, that converts to 3,000–4,500 kg/h theoretically. The plant must demonstrate the required net rate with bag placement, sewing and pallet handling included.
The proposed bagging duty covers broiler starter crumbles around 1.5–3.0 mm and pelleted broiler or layer feed around 3–4 mm diameter, with pellet length targeted at 5–8 mm upstream. The scale weighs these products without changing their dimensions.
Feed reaches the packing bin after cooling and screening. An initial moisture specification of 11–12% on a wet basis is used for this example. Representative samples must flow freely through the gravity gate, including the normal fines content.
The ingredient base includes maize, soybean meal and approved cereal by-products. For scale selection, the relevant properties are the finished feed’s flow, density and dust content. A future mash product would need its own feeding assessment.
| Parameter | Selected specification or project basis |
|---|---|
| Model and quantity | One DCS-50W bagging scale |
| Product feeding | Gravity feeding for suitable free-flowing material |
| Published filling speed | 2–3 bags/minute |
| Selected net bag weight | 25 kg |
| Theoretical mass rate at 25 kg | 3,000–4,500 kg/h before interruptions |
| Required completed-bag average | 105 bags/hour across the planned packing window |
| Listed motor package | 0.55 + 0.37 kW; combined 0.92 kW |
| Published accuracy reference | Static ±0.1%; dynamic ±0.2%; calculation basis to be agreed |
| Published air-pressure requirement | 0.4–0.6 MPa |
| Published air-demand reference | 1.5 m³/h; reference conditions to be confirmed |
| Planned closure | Sewn closure using approved bag samples |
Gravity feeding avoids a driven belt or screw in the product-dosing path. The downstream bag conveyor still has its own maintenance requirements. The quoted assembly must identify which motors, controls and auxiliaries are included.
A percentage needs a defined reference. If ±0.2% refers to a 25 kg fill, the corresponding value is ±50 g. If it refers to a 50 kg rated capacity, it is ±100 g. The supply agreement must establish the applicable basis and acceptance procedure.
Checks use independently verified weighing equipment and a defined tare method. Records distinguish average net-weight bias from the spread of individual results. A display reading alone cannot establish the feed content after bag weight is accounted for.
For illustration, 10,000 tonnes packed into nominal 25 kg units represents 400,000 bags. A sustained average overfill of 20 g per bag would give away eight tonnes. That calculation shows why bias matters; it is not an operating result for this plant.
Feeder cutoff settings are adjusted with the actual product and bag. Stable flow and repeatable operating conditions are part of weight control, alongside the weighing instrument itself.
The proposed package uses 25 kg woven polypropylene bags with a sewn mouth. Closure trials check thread, stitch quality, leakage and handling damage. Bag construction and storage conditions determine moisture protection; sewing alone is not a moisture barrier.
The staffing plan assigns bag positioning and sewing supervision to two operators, with shared support for pallet handling and forklift movement. Conveyors support filled bags through closing. The required crew and handling aids are checked during the complete-cycle trial.
The surge bin has independent structural support. Connections to the weighing assembly must avoid transmitting unwanted forces, while nearby mills and conveyors are checked for vibration. Dust extraction is arranged so that its ducting does not load the weighing structure.
A 15-minute packing interruption at 3 T/H creates 750 kg of incoming feed. That is a useful buffer check, with the required bin volume calculated from measured bulk density. Bin-level variation is also included in filling tests.
The utility enquiry uses a 400 V, 50 Hz, three-phase design basis, confirmed against the site distribution board and selected motors. Clean, dry compressed air is required at the specified pressure. Compressor and dust-extraction loads are assessed separately from the listed motor package.
Acceptance runs cover representative crumbles and pellets, different bin levels and successive batches. Operators record net bag weights, completed bags, stoppages, sewing quality and product leakage. The agreed test duration must represent sustained operation.
Routine checks include zero and weight verification, clamp-rubber inspection, air leaks, gate cleanliness and conveyor or sewing-head servicing. Spare clamp components, pneumatic seals and sewing consumables are specified by part number, without assigning an unsupported replacement interval.
Freight planning can use Qingdao departure, an agreed Algiers cargo terminal and road delivery to Blida. Container allocation, packing, clearance responsibilities and delivery dates are confirmed in the quotation. Documentation language and remote commissioning support are agreed with the plant team.
For a feed plant bagging scale in Algeria, send RICHI Machinery samples of the actual bags and finished feed, the production schedule and a drawing of the packing-bin outlet. Include the required net-weight tolerance and available air supply. These details allow the scale, closure and handling scope to be priced against a measurable packing duty.
