Our client is an agricultural processing cooperative located in Savannakhet Province, a major cassava-growing region in central Laos. The cooperative aggregates fresh cassava roots from hundreds of smallholder farmers.

For years, their primary activity was rudimentary processing: manually chipping the roots and sun-drying the slices on concrete slabs. This method was entirely weather-dependent. During the rainy season or periods of high humidity, chips would mold, ferment, or spoil before they dried, leading to significant financial losses for farmers and the cooperative alike.

The inconsistent quality of sun-dried chips also meant they could only sell into the lowest-value local markets, primarily for animal feed. From Laem Chabang, the cargo was transferred to trucks for the overland journey across the Thai-Lao border (likely through the Mukdahan-Savannakhet friendship bridge) and directly to the cooperative's site in Savannakhet Province. This is the standard and most efficient logistics route for heavy equipment destined for central and southern Laos.
