Zambia 10 T/H Maize Bran and Sunflower Meal Cattle Feed Mill Reaches Pre-Shipment Inspection

A 10 t/h cattle feed production line for Zambia has reached pre-shipment inspection after completion of the principal grinding, batching, mixing, pelletizing and cooling equipment.

The project is designed for a regional feed manufacturer using maize-processing co-products together with sunflower meal and other commercially available ingredients.

This is a good example of why RICHI does not design African feed mills around imported textbook formulas alone. The production system has to match ingredients the customer can actually source economically.

Reference Formulas Were Used to Size the Plant

A representative cattle pellet considered during engineering uses approximately 30–40% maize or maize-derived ingredients, 15–25% maize bran, 10–18% sunflower meal, 8–15% other protein/energy ingredients and a variable fibrous fraction, with molasses, minerals, salt and premix completing the formulation.

The exact percentage changes according to cattle category and ingredient analysis.

These working ranges allowed RICHI to calculate realistic bin allocation and determine which ingredients need grinding.

Maize bran and prepared meal should not automatically be sent through the same grinding route as whole maize.

A bypass reduces unnecessary energy use and avoids generating excessive fines.

What the Pre-Shipment Inspection Is Checking

The inspection is not limited to whether each motor starts.

RICHI Machinery is checking:

• equipment assembly and rotation direction;
• batching and weighing interfaces;
• mixer discharge sequence;
• pellet-mill feeding and conditioning interfaces;
• cooler and screener connections;
• dust-control points;
• safety guards and access;
• control-system interlocks;
• equipment numbering against the installation layout.

The customer will still complete final loaded commissioning in Zambia with its own ingredients.

Factory inspection confirms manufacturing readiness; it does not replace site performance testing.

Product Planning Covers More Than One Cattle Feed

The plant will produce meal feed and approximately 6–8 mm pellets for different cattle markets.

Formula, pellet size and fiber level influence practical output, so 10 t/h is the main commercial capacity class.

Finished-feed bins provide buffer between production and dispatch.

The first packaging route uses 25–50 kg agricultural sacks. The layout also leaves an interface for future bulk feed loading, which could become economical if the customer develops larger dairy or beef-farm contracts.

The Economic Logic Is Local Ingredient Utilization

Using maize bran and sunflower processing co-products can give the manufacturer additional formulation options when these ingredients are competitively priced.

RICHI's role is not to guarantee that one ingredient will always be cheaper. Instead, the plant gives the customer enough storage and dosing flexibility to respond when ingredient economics change.

That is a stronger long-term solution than designing the factory around one fixed recipe.

The project develops maize bran cattle feed production line, sunflower meal feed pellet plant, 10 t/h cattle feed mill Zambia, beef feed manufacturing equipment, dairy cattle feed pellet production line, and African compound feed factory equipment.

After inspection, the equipment will move into packing and container-loading preparation according to the installation sequence required at site.
