Vietnam Tofu Cat Litter Pellet Line Enters Commissioning Stage with RICHI Support

A 3 T/H tofu cat litter pellet production line supplied by RICHI MACHINERY has recently entered commissioning in northern Vietnam, marking RICHI’s latest entry into the rapidly expanding plant-based pet litter market. This project demonstrates RICHI's capability to tailor solutions for environmentally conscious products while meeting local production demands.

The production line utilizes tofu residue and corn fiber as primary raw materials, converting these byproducts into biodegradable, low-dust cat litter pellets suitable for domestic retail distribution. The initiative aligns with rising consumer demand for sustainable and eco-friendly pet care products in Vietnam.

Customized Solution for Lightweight Materials

Tofu residue presents processing challenges due to its high moisture content, low bulk density, and tendency to form clumps before drying. RICHI designed a specialized process incorporating advanced equipment to ensure smooth production and consistent pellet quality:

• Screw feeding system for controlled material intake
• Low-temperature belt dryer to maintain nutrient properties and prevent product degradation
• Fine grinding unit to achieve uniform particle size and improve pellet formation
• Vertical ring die pellet mill designed for low-density feedstocks
• Cooling and polishing system to ensure durability, reduced dust, and attractive appearance

The final pellets exhibit strong clumping performance, rapid liquid absorption, and minimal breakage during transport and handling. The line is engineered to minimize energy consumption while maximizing output consistency and product quality.

Market-Oriented Design

The plant is equipped with additional features to adapt to consumer preferences and product differentiation:

• Small-batch flavor coating system for introducing natural scents or functional additives
• Color blending option to produce visually distinct product variants

With an output capacity of approximately 3 tons per hour, the line is optimized for regional distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, and specialty pet store channels. The system allows flexible batch sizes, enabling the customer to respond quickly to changing market demand and introduce limited-edition product lines.

Commissioning Progress

After equipment delivery in November, RICHI engineers completed mechanical installation within six weeks. Electrical commissioning and material testing began in January, following rigorous safety and quality protocols.

Initial trial runs confirmed stable pellet quality, excellent clumping performance, low dust generation, and efficient energy usage. Operators received training on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring smooth ramp-up to full production. The commissioning phase also included adjustments to feed rates, drying parameters, and pellet die settings to optimize throughput without compromising product integrity.
