Romania Orders 8-10 T/H Agricultural Residue Pellet Plant for Multi-Season Feedstock Supply

A Romanian biomass company has moved ahead with an 8-10 t/h pellet production project designed around something that changes throughout the year: agricultural residue availability.

The new RICHI Machinery plant will not rely on one permanent feedstock. Corn stalks will form an important part of the supply, while wheat, barley and other suitable cereal straws can be processed when their seasonal availability and condition meet the production requirements.

The customer plans to manufacture 8 mm biomass fuel pellets for industrial energy markets.

Seasonal Supply Was Considered Before Equipment Selection

Agricultural residues are not produced evenly throughout the year.

Harvest timing creates periods of high material availability followed by longer storage periods. Weather and storage conditions can also change moisture before the biomass reaches production.

For the Romanian customer, building a factory around only one residue would increase dependence on one harvest cycle.

The 8-10 t/h biomass pellet project instead establishes a defined multi-straw operating range.

That flexibility still has boundaries: unknown agricultural wastes cannot simply be added to the plant without evaluating their physical and chemical characteristics.

Bale Condition Determines the Beginning of the Process

Much of the customer's straw supply is expected to reach the plant in baled form.

The first production challenge is therefore not fine grinding. It is opening and reducing bulky fibrous material so that the downstream system can handle it continuously.

Dry bales stored under suitable conditions can follow a different moisture route from material that has absorbed significant water.

The front end of the straw plant is being developed around this variability.

Storage Strategy Becomes Part of the 8-10 T/H Project

The customer needs enough biomass inventory to reduce dependence on daily residue collection.

That makes the storage yard and feedstock management strategy relevant to factory operation even though these areas are outside the biomass pellet mill itself.

Material identification, protection from excessive moisture and controlled blending of approved residues can all affect later production stability.

RICHI's engineering work is therefore being coordinated with the customer's planned receiving and storage system.

Manufacturing Begins with the Approved Preparation Equipment

With the principal process confirmed, the first equipment groups have entered production.

Manufacturing will proceed through biomass preparation, pelletizing and downstream handling sections before complete equipment inspection begins.

Site preparation in Romania is continuing during the factory phase.

When commissioning eventually starts, each principal straw type will need to be evaluated under its real operating condition.

The new order gives the Romanian producer a plant intended to follow the agricultural calendar rather than fight against it—an important consideration for a business whose raw materials begin in fields rather than in a continuously operating industrial process.
