Oman 6 T/H Camel and Sheep Feed Plant Completes Formula and Process Design

Process design has been completed for a 6 t/h compound-feed plant in Oman that will manufacture camel and sheep feeds from imported cereals, locally available roughage ingredients and commercial protein/mineral components.

The project was developed around a practical regional issue: the customer cannot design feed production as though every ingredient arrives with the same density, fiber level or storage requirement.

Barley and maize behave very differently from chopped forage or fibrous meal. Molasses creates another handling requirement altogether.

The Initial Formula Portfolio Uses Several Ingredient Groups

One reference sheep-feed formula under evaluation contains approximately 35–45% barley, 15–25% maize or other cereal ingredients, 10–18% wheat bran, 8–15% protein meal and a smaller proportion of alfalfa meal, molasses, minerals, salt and premix.

Camel-feed formulations use a different balance and can carry a higher fibrous fraction depending on the customer's nutrition program.

RICHI Machinery is not prescribing these percentages as universal feeding recommendations. They are used to determine bin volume, dosing range, mixer loading and the practical flexibility required from the plant.

A Desert Feed Mill Has Its Own Engineering Priorities

High ambient temperature and dusty conditions influence equipment arrangement and raw-material storage.

The customer also needs to protect premixes and sensitive minor ingredients from inappropriate storage conditions.

The production building therefore separates bulk-material handling from controlled micro-ingredient addition.

The main process follows:

1. bulk and bagged ingredient receiving;
2. impurity and magnetic separation;
3. grinding of ingredients requiring size reduction;
4. computerized batching;
5. mixing and controlled molasses/liquid addition;
6. conditioning and pelletizing;
7. cooling and screening;
8. finished-feed storage;
9. bagging or bulk dispatch.

The first product program includes approximately 6–8 mm sheep pellets and larger ruminant/camel feed specifications where required.

RICHI Avoided Treating Fibrous Ingredients Like Grain

One of the customer's original concerns was unstable feeding when low-density roughage ingredients entered conventional grain bins.

RICHI's revised configuration uses dedicated storage/feeding arrangements for fibrous components rather than forcing them through the same hopper design as barley.

This helps maintain more stable batching and reduces bridging.

The molasses system is also separated from dry ingredient dosing. Controlled liquid addition improves distribution inside the mixer and avoids localized wet material that could interfere with downstream pelletizing.

Commercial Flexibility Matters More Than One Fixed Recipe

The customer buys ingredients in a market where cereal and protein-source prices can move significantly.

A plant locked to one formula would reduce its ability to respond.

The RICHI design therefore gives the customer multiple ingredient bins and recipe control, allowing approved alternative ingredients to be introduced without rebuilding the entire line.

This flexibility can have a direct economic benefit: the feed manufacturer can optimize purchasing and formulation while keeping the mechanical production system unchanged.

With the process plan approved, the project is moving into equipment production and detailed layout coordination.
