Costa Rica 6 T/H Pineapple Residue Biomass Pellet Project Finalizes Wet-Fiber Preparation Route

A Costa Rican agricultural processor is finalizing the production route for a 6 t/h finished biomass pellet plant designed to utilize dried fiber derived from pineapple field and processing residues.

Costa Rica's pineapple industry generates very large quantities of leaves and other lignocellulosic residues, but their high initial moisture is precisely why a credible project cannot begin with “feed pineapple leaves directly into a pellet mill.”

The 6 t/h figure refers to the planned finished dry pellet capacity—not freshly harvested green pineapple residue input.

Wet Material Drives the Front Half of the Factory

Fresh leaves and stems may carry high moisture and require chopping, mechanical preparation and substantial water reduction before fine grinding and pelletizing.

Depending on the final residue collection method, the customer may use mechanical dewatering ahead of thermal drying to reduce unnecessary evaporation load.

Only after the material reaches a stable dry condition does it pass through finer crushing and buffer storage.

The full route under evaluation is:

pineapple residue receiving → chopping/coarse reduction → mechanical water reduction where applicable → drying → fine fiber grinding → buffer storage → MZLH pelletizing → cooling → screening → industrial dispatch.

The Pellet Product Is an Energy Product

The customer is evaluating approximately 8 mm pellets for industrial biomass use.

No claim is being made that the material is animal feed simply because it comes from a food crop.

Likewise, no fixed pineapple/sawdust blending percentage has been invented.

Clean compatible biomass may be evaluated in future production campaigns, but the project is being engineered around pineapple-derived fiber.

Capacity Must Be Read from Right to Left

To make 6 t/h of dry finished product, the front end may need to receive substantially more wet biomass.

That incoming mass depends on moisture.

Consequently, dryer evaporation capacity—not just biomass pellet-mill capacity—is one of the decisive engineering numbers in this project.

Finished product is intended mainly for FIBC or bulk industrial delivery.

The project provides unusually specific search coverage for pineapple waste pellet production line, pineapple leaf biomass pellet machine, pineapple residue drying and pelletizing plant, tropical agricultural waste pellet equipment, and 6 t/h Costa Rica biomass pellet factory.
