RICHI Successfully Signed Contract for 10T/H Plastic Bag Shredding System Project in Brazil

In July 2025, RICHI MACHINERY, the world's leading supplier of complete equipment for biomass, organic fertilizer and solid waste resource processing, once again received good news: the company successfully signed a contract with a large agricultural and environmental protection enterprise group in Brazil for a large plastic bag shredding system with a processing capacity of 10 tons/hour.

This is another landmark project for RICHI in the field of shredding and sorting in the Latin American market, and it also sets an industry demonstration benchmark for the efficient resource processing of agricultural waste and packaging waste in South America.

Under the pressure of plastic pollution, agricultural waste resource utilization faces new challenges Plastic packaging products, especially plastic bags, woven bags, strapping tapes, etc., are widely used in global agriculture, logistics and raw material storage. However, the resulting plastic waste has become one of the stubborn problems that restrict the sustainable development of agriculture.

In Brazil, a major agricultural country, the large-scale production, transportation and export of bulk agricultural products such as corn, soybeans and sugarcane generate a large amount of waste plastic packaging every year. These plastic bags and woven bags are often mixed with straw, crop residues, feed packaging, and livestock and poultry manure packaging.

The traditional manual bag breaking and sorting efficiency is low, resulting in low raw material recovery rate, hindered back-end fermentation or organic fertilizer production, and even potential pollution to soil, rivers and marine ecology.

Under the guidance of the "zero waste agriculture" and "sustainable agriculture" strategies of Brazil and Latin American countries, how to achieve efficient shredding, sorting, and recycling of plastic packaging waste in the agricultural field has become a key research topic for many agricultural groups and environmental protection companies.

Customer demand: from "difficult to break bags" to "easy to shred"

The customer who signed the contract this time is a local comprehensive enterprise group in Brazil with large-scale agricultural product processing, organic fertilizer production and agricultural supplies supply business. The group needs to recycle hundreds of thousands of tons of straw, livestock and poultry manure and other agricultural by-products containing plastic packaging from major farms every year. Most of these raw materials are packaged in plastic bags and woven bags and transported to centralized processing plants.

However, how to efficiently and cost-effectively break, shred and sort these large amounts of bagged raw materials has always been a key problem that restricts its expansion and resource efficiency. If the bags are broken manually, it will not only require a lot of labor, but also easily cause dust, dirty environment and poor working environment. If the whole bag is fed directly, it is very easy to block the subsequent equipment such as crushing and granulation, increasing the risk of equipment wear and even damage.

After multiple rounds of scheme comparison and on-site testing, the customer finally decided to cooperate with the experienced and mature RICHI to customize the construction of this 10T/H large plastic bag shredding system to solve the problem of "difficult bag breaking and sorting" from the source.

RICHI solution: one system, multiple solutions

In order to meet customers' multiple requirements for high production capacity, high adaptability, intelligence and low operating costs, the RICHI technical team combined years of experience in agricultural waste pretreatment and front-end bag breaking and shredding of organic fertilizer production lines to design the following core process flow:

  1. Loading-chain conveyor + grab automatic feeding
    The front end of the large plastic bag shredding system is equipped with a chain conveyor and a hopper, which can directly put bundles and piles of bagged raw materials onto the conveyor line through a grab or a forklift, freeing up labor and improving continuous operation capabilities.
  2. Rough breaking-high torque and low speed double-shaft shredder
    First enter the rough breaking stage. RICHI's matching large double-shaft shredder adopts a high torque and low speed design, and the special cutter can easily shred high-strength woven bags, multi-layer plastic films and windings. Even if you encounter bundles of wet straw and wet feces packaging, you can break the bags and loosen the accumulated materials smoothly.
  3. Fine shredding - single-axis or multi-stage shredding
    After coarse shredding, part of the raw materials directly enter the fine shredder. The fine shredding process can further crush larger plastic blocks, woven materials remaining after bag breaking, and mixed organic matter into smaller sizes, which is convenient for subsequent fermentation or recycling.
  4. Impurity removal and sorting - metal separation + light material sorting
    After shredding, the materials may be mixed with foreign objects such as metal wires, nails, and strapping tapes. RICHI has integrated high-efficiency magnetic separators and air separators in the system, which can automatically separate metal impurities and light plastic fragments, and realize the effective separation of plastics, organic matter and metals.
  5. Output - transport to organic fertilizer or recycling workshop
    After multi-stage shredding and sorting, part of the materials enter the subsequent fermentation and organic fertilizer granulation system, and the plastic fragments are collected, compressed and packaged, and then sold to plastic recycling companies, forming a closed loop of solid waste resource utilization.

  • High adaptability - can cope with complex material forms such as plastics and organic matter mixed, high moisture content, etc.;
  • Thorough impurity removal - integrated multi-stage magnetic separation and air separation, automatic separation of plastics, metals, and light impurities;
  • High degree of automation - optional intelligent monitoring, remote control, production statistics and automatic alarm functions to reduce manual dependence.

More importantly, through automatic bag breaking and shredding, customers save a lot of manpower expenses for manual bag breaking and sorting, and improve the overall resource utilization rate and economic benefits. At the same time, the collected plastic fragments can be sold to recycled plastic companies for melt granulation and reuse, turning waste into treasure and realizing additional income.
