However, their existing process for incorporating this silage into a Total Mixed Ration (TMR) was crude and problematic. They used a front-end loader to break apart the heavy, fermented bales before feeding them into a mixer wagon.

This method was not only slow and labor-intensive but resulted in a highly inconsistent feed—large, unprocessed chunks of silage mixed with finely shredded material. This inconsistency led to feed sorting by cattle, variable nutrient intake, and ultimately, uneven growth rates and inefficient feed conversion, which directly impacted profitability in a market with tight margins.

The feedlot’s production manager knew that their modern TMR mixer was capable, but its output was only as good as its input. The bottleneck was the pre-processing stage. Given the feedlot’s massive daily silage consumption, they needed a machine with substantial power and throughput. This perfectly processed silage is then conveyed directly into the TMR mixer, where it is blended with crushed maize, protein supplements, minerals, and fats.
