The pellets were exiting the ring die pellet mill at 85-90°C. They were being dumped directly into shipping containers and bulk storage silos while still hot. The result was moisture migration – hot pellets cooled unevenly, causing condensation inside silos and containers. Some shipments arrived with moldy pellets. Customers in Denmark and South Korea were rejecting containers.
The plant manager (let's call him Dmitri) explained the problem: "We were in a rush to ship. The pellets were going straight from the pellet mill into the container. By the time they reached the customer, the core of the pile was still warm, moisture had condensed on the inside of the container, and mold was growing. We needed a proper cooling system for our pellet line."

Installation took three weeks. The old belt cooler was removed. The new SKLF28x28 was positioned on a raised platform to allow gravity discharge into the conveyor system. A concrete foundation (250mm thick) was poured.
The electrical hookup required 380V, 50Hz three-phase (Russian standard). The 2.2kW discharge motor plus hydraulic pack required a 40-amp breaker.
The first test run was with 6mm pine pellets at 88°C. The cooler was set to 12 minutes cooling time. Pellet temperature exiting: 22°C (ambient was 18°C). Moisture: 7.2%. No condensation in the discharge chute.
