Organic Fertilizer Pellet Making Machine in Zimbabwe: FZLH250 application for mature manure compost, with 6 mm pellets, moisture balance and bagging checks.

For a compost producer near Harare, the production calendar begins with the batches ready for sale before planting orders arrive. Fresh manure deliveries and available press hours tell only part of that story. The material that matters for machine sizing is mature compost, prepared to a consistent moisture and particle size.
This illustrative application for an organic fertilizer pellet making machine in Zimbabwe uses one FZLH250 as an addition to an existing composting business. The customer purchases cattle manure, poultry litter and crop residues from a farm network, and wants a bagged pellet product alongside screened compost sales.
Name:
Organic Fertilizer Pellet Machine
Country:
Zimbabwe
Date:
2026
Capacity:
800–1,000 kg/h
Model:
FZLH250
Main Motor Power:
22 kW
Pellet Diameter:
6 mm
Pellet length:
10–15 mm
The proposed starting charge contains 50% cattle manure, 25% poultry litter, 15% maize stover and 10% groundnut shells on a dry-matter basis before composting. Incoming weights are adjusted using measured moisture. These percentages describe the initial charge; decomposition changes the composition and mass of the finished compost.
Maize stalks and shells are reduced in size before entering the windrow. They contribute carbon and structure, while the manures supply a different nutrient and moisture profile. The mixture is adjusted through composting trials rather than treated as a fixed recipe for every delivery.
The customer already has a windrow area, turning arrangements, a batch dryer, a crusher and a mixer. The new press handles released material from this preparation system. Compost maturity and hygienic quality are checked upstream; the pelletizer's role is mechanical forming.
The proposed operating range is 800–1,000 kg/h of prepared compost entering the press. The FZLH250 fertilizer granulator machine provides a published reference capacity of 1,000–1,500 kg/h, with actual performance dependent on material condition. Its two-stage feeding arrangement offers a useful trial basis for the light, fibrous compost blend.
| Equipment item | Application specification |
|---|---|
| Pellet machine | One FZLH250 ring die fertilizer pellet mill |
| Main motor | 22 kW |
| Anti-bridging feeder | 2.2 kW |
| Forced feeder | 0.75 kW |
| Sum of listed main and feeder ratings | 24.95 kW |
| Ring die inner diameter | 250 mm |
| Published reference capacity | 1,000–1,500 kg/h |
| Proposed working feed rate | 800–1,000 kg/h, subject to material trials |
| Finished pellet specification | 6 mm diameter × approximately 10–15 mm length |
At the upper planning point, four net pressing hours consume four tonnes of prepared compost daily. Across 200 operating days, that requires 800 tonnes annually. Raw manure procurement must support this quantity after composting, water removal and screening losses. Supplier commitments are therefore assessed against recovered material.
The smaller machine keeps the initial project aligned with that supply plan. Expansion can follow demonstrated compost availability and repeat orders. A higher press rating alone would leave the upstream preparation requirement unresolved.
For initial trials, the released compost is crushed and screened using a 3 mm trial aperture, with long fibres returned for further reduction. The proposed press-feed moisture is 16%, and the initial finishing target is 14%. Both are trial settings requiring confirmation with the actual material and storage conditions.
A simple solids balance shows how the weights change:
| Material-balance item | Illustrative quantity |
|---|---|
| Prepared compost at 16% moisture | 1,000 kg |
| Dry solids retained | 840 kg |
| Product at 14% moisture | Approximately 977 kg |
| Water removed | Approximately 23 kg |
This calculation assumes full dry-solids retention and excludes handling losses. Cooling, and any additional drying needed, must achieve the finishing specification before packaging. Saleable output is measured after cooling and screening, with fines recovery recorded separately.
During commissioning, weigh press feed and cooled product over the same run, recording moisture, screened returns, motor load and stoppages. Comparing batches on this basis helps distinguish preparation losses from pressing interruptions.
The 6 mm die sets pellet diameter; the cutting arrangement sets length. Changing diameter requires a different die. Trials also establish suitable die-hole geometry and feeding settings for this compost. The anti-bridging and forced feeders assist delivery, while moisture and fibre preparation remain part of operating control.
The integration plan connects the mixer machine discharge to a buffer hopper, then the press to controlled cooling, screening and packing. These downstream arrangements must be ready before production starts. Hot pellets are held out of the bagging stock until the agreed temperature and moisture conditions are met.
A two-person pelleting and packing team assumes mechanical feeding from prepared stock. Compost turning, dryer operation and warehouse handling remain separate tasks. The proposed retail format is a 25 kg bag, checked for filling consistency and handling damage during trials.
Zimbabwe's electricity supply operates at 50 Hz. The electrical review confirms the site's three-phase voltage, starting arrangements and available capacity. The complete load schedule includes any additional cutter drive, cooling, extraction and conveying equipment beyond the three ratings listed above. Drying energy and composting water belong to the preparation-plant assessment.
Foundation loads, inlet height, discharge connections and space for die and roller servicing follow the approved drawings. A proposed freight route is Qingdao Port to Beira, Mozambique, followed by trucking through the Machipanda/Forbes border and Mutare towards Harare. Packing and unloading plans follow the actual shipment dimensions.
The intended customers are maize growers, horticultural producers and farming groups. Product release links each batch to moisture, nutrient analysis and agreed maturity checks. Soil conditions and compost analysis guide application recommendations. Pellet dimensions describe handling characteristics; laboratory results establish the nutrient declaration.
For farming groups using a metered spreader, trials include flow and calibration with the actual pellets. Bulk density and surface fines can change the weight delivered at a given setting, even when pellet diameter remains consistent.
The purchasing objective is repeatable bagged compost that the existing preparation system can supply. RICHI Machinery can build the trial and quotation around that duty, including feeder selection, wear parts, interface drawings and operator instruction.
