A regional fertilizer processor in central Latvia uses one FZLH520 manure pellet machine to produce 9 mm pellets from stabilized livestock manure and prepared organic materials.

A regional organic fertilizer processor in central Latvia selected one FZLH520 Manure Pellet Machine in Latvia to expand the pelletizing stage for stabilized livestock-manure fertilizers. The plant collects material from several dairy and pig farms, combines it with prepared cereal straw and clean woody carbon materials, and supplies pelletized organic fertilizer to crop, horticultural and soil-improvement markets.
The customer already had composting areas, mixers, conveyors, moisture-control equipment and finished-product handling, so the investment remained a standalone granulation upgrade rather than a complete fertilizer line. The FZLH520 provides 9–12 T/H reference pelletizing capacity on properly prepared material, allowing the plant to run concentrated production campaigns without rebuilding every section of the facility.

Latvia has a practical raw-material base for this project because dairy, pig and cereal farming can generate manure and straw within the same agricultural supply network. A centralized processor can aggregate material from several farms more realistically than relying on one herd. The business therefore depends on contracted collection, covered storage and controlled preparation rather than one farm supplying a 9–12 T/H machine.
The FZLH520 fertilizer granulator machine is also better suited to a regional fertilizer business than to a small farm processing manure only for its own land. Its hourly capacity is high enough to consume prepared fertilizer quickly, so mature compost and blended material are accumulated ahead of pelletizing. This campaign-based operating pattern gives the machine useful loading while keeping annual output realistic for the customer’s market and storage capacity.

The 9–12 T/H figure applies to the ring-die forming stage and should not be read as fresh-manure intake or guaranteed factory output. Composting, moisture adjustment, mixing, cooling and packaging operate at different rates, so the plant uses buffer storage between sections. Actual pelletizing capacity also depends on material bulk density, fibre level, moisture, particle size, die specification and feeder stability.
The 132 kW main drive, 3 kW anti-bridging feeder and 1.5 kW forced feeder suit a prepared organic mixture that can compact or bridge above the die chamber. These feeding devices improve flow stability, but they do not make long straw, wet manure or oversized compost lumps acceptable machine feed. Material preparation, screening and size control remain necessary before fertilizer reaches the FZLH520.
Fresh cattle and pig manure are not sent directly from the farm into the organic fertilizer pellet machine. The processor first manages biological stabilization through composting, using suitable carbon-rich materials to support aeration and moisture balance. Only mature fertilizer material proceeds to screening, crushing, formulation and pelletizing, because thermal drying alone does not replace the biological treatment needed for fresh manure.
Wheat straw and clean untreated sawdust can support compost structure and carbon balance, but neither ingredient is assigned a permanent percentage. Straw is chopped before composting or fine preparation, while sawdust is used only when the mixture needs additional dry carbon. Their purpose is not to create a guaranteed binder effect, and excessive woody material can dilute nutrient concentration in the finished fertilizer.
The plant also avoids a fixed 60/20/15/5 recipe because manure composition varies between farms, seasons, bedding systems and storage conditions. Each commercial batch is built from actual fertilizer analysis and processing behavior. Nutrient targets are set during formulation, while the FZLH520 provides the physical pellet form and does not create nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium or organic matter by itself.
The Manure Pellet Machine in Latvia sits near the end of this workflow. It does not perform composting, primary drying or nutrient formulation, so each upstream stage has to deliver a stable material condition. This separation is important for a retrofit project because the customer can continue using serviceable composting and mixing equipment while concentrating the new investment on reliable pellet formation.
Moisture is controlled from the actual manure blend rather than one permanent percentage. Material that is too wet can produce soft pellets, while an excessively dry mixture can create more dust and compression resistance. The customer evaluates feeder stability, motor load, pellet formation and cooling together, using the dryer only when mature fertilizer still carries more water than the pelletizing section can handle.
The organic fertilizer production project uses 9 mm as its principal commercial pellet size because it provides a practical balance between handling, bagging and field application for the customer’s market. The FZLH520 can work within the 4–12 mm diameter range, so another die can be selected when a contract requires a different size. Pellet diameter remains a physical specification and is not evidence of higher nutrient value, slower release or better crop response.
Finished pellets are cooled before storage so process heat does not remain trapped in bags or bins. Screening then separates qualified product from fines and broken material, giving the operator useful feedback on moisture, particle preparation, die condition and conveying. Cooling is not used as a substitute for upstream drying, and a high fines level is investigated as a process issue rather than hidden through repeated recycle.
Commercial fertilizer quality is verified through laboratory and plant-control parameters rather than appearance alone. The processor reviews moisture, organic matter, nutrient analysis, ash and other product requirements before making agronomic claims. A dense 9 mm pellet can improve handling and distribution, but the machine cannot guarantee crop response, soil improvement or nutrient-release behavior without product testing and field use data.
The 132 kW main motor is only part of the electrical demand around the pelletizing section. Anti-bridging and forced feeding, conveyors, cooling, screening and dust control add their own loads, so transformer capacity, motor starting, protection and cable sizing are checked for simultaneous operation. The retrofit is sized from the complete section rather than from the pellet-mill motor alone in practice.
Latvia’s cold season makes covered storage and moisture protection especially important for compost and finished fertilizer. Frozen or waterlogged material should not enter the pelletizer, and condensation around warm pellets can undermine storage stability. The facility therefore keeps mature feedstock protected, manages indoor operating conditions and allows pellets to cool properly before they move into bags or bulk storage.
Ring dies, rollers and feeding components are inspected according to processed tonnes, material cleanliness and operating condition rather than a fixed service-life promise. Sand, stones and mineral contamination can increase wear, while long fibres can disturb feeding. The plant uses screening and appropriate foreign-material control ahead of the machine so expensive wear components are not asked to perform the job of raw-material cleaning.
The FZLH520 can be prepared for export from Qingdao and shipped to the Port of Riga before inland delivery to the central Latvian facility. Final vessel routing, customs handling and trucking depend on the confirmed booking, so the project does not assign a fixed transit period. Installation drawings allow the customer to prepare foundations, electrical service, infeed, discharge and maintenance clearances before arrival.
Future expansion starts with the amount of mature fertilizer available ahead of the machine. If composting, moisture control, mixing, cooling or packaging already limits output, another pelletizer would add little useful capacity. The customer first uses available operating hours on the installed FZLH520 and tracks where prepared material accumulates before considering a second granulation unit or a larger downstream section.
For another buyer evaluating a Manure Pellet Machine in Latvia, RICHI Machinery would review manure type, collection method, compost maturity, moisture, straw or woody content, particle size, target pellet diameter, hourly demand, mixer and cooler capacity, electrical supply, annual sales and available L × W × H. Those inputs determine whether FZLH420, FZLH520 or another model provides the best utilization.
