As Côte d'Ivoire's agriculture and livestock industries continue to develop, the demand for efficient, locally processed animal feed is rising significantly. In this case, our client—a medium-sized cattle farm located near Bouaké—was in search of a reliable livestock grain mill to improve the quality and consistency of their feed rations.
Previously, the farm relied on outsourcing feed grinding to a third-party service located 40 km away, which not only increased operating costs but also created delays in feeding schedules. With livestock numbers growing and nutrition becoming a key factor in cattle performance, the farm made the strategic decision to invest in a single feed processing unit—specifically, a grain hammer mill—to gain autonomy and ensure daily access to freshly ground materials.

This investment was not part of a full production line, but rather a standalone purchase aimed at decentralizing feed preparation. The customer already owned a simple vertical mixer and feed storage bins. What they lacked was a powerful, durable, and efficient grain mill that could handle local raw materials used in cattle rations. After researching multiple equipment suppliers, they chose RICHI Machinery for our specialization in high-efficiency hammer mills tailored for livestock feed production.
The model selected was the SFSP66×60 livestock grain mill, which perfectly aligned with their moderate production goals and power infrastructure.
The SFSP66×60 grain mill was chosen based on its capacity to meet the farm’s daily feed requirements of approximately 4 tons of dry feed, allowing a buffer for peak periods or future expansion.

These ingredients are crushed to a particle size of 2–3 mm, which is ideal for cattle digestion and feed conversion. The mill’s design ensures a uniform grind size, crucial for balancing rations and avoiding feed sorting.
The livestock grain mill is particularly efficient in breaking down fibrous content like cassava and cottonseed cake, which are abundant in Côte d'Ivoire and often included in ruminant diets. This flexibility was one of the reasons the customer opted for RICHI’s hammer mill rather than a roller mill.
Since installation, the RICHI livestock grain grinder has significantly improved feed consistency and reduced processing time. The customer noted a 30% reduction in feed preparation costs and a noticeable improvement in cattle body condition and weight gain.
Instead of relying on expensive pre-ground ingredients from Abidjan or importing processed feed, the farm now mills its raw materials on-site and prepares balanced rations daily. This autonomy in feed processing also gave the farm greater control over formulation changes, especially during seasonal shifts when certain grains become more or less available.
As with most of our projects in West Africa, we shipped the hammer mill crusher machine via sea freight to the Port of Abidjan, the country’s main and busiest seaport. From there, the equipment was transported by road to the customer’s location in central Côte d'Ivoire.
