This is a project regarding livestock grain grinders in Cameroon. In the heartland of Cameroon’s Northwest Region, a mid-sized cattle farm has taken a significant step forward in feed production efficiency by investing in a livestock grain grinder.
The customer is a family-run cattle farming business that supplies both beef and dairy products to local markets and cooperatives. Over the past few years, the farm experienced notable growth in its herd size, which demanded more precise control over feed formulation and a consistent supply of processed raw materials.
Before purchasing the livestock grain grinder, the farm relied on local grinding services or an old, inefficient hammer mill that often broke down and delivered inconsistent particle sizes. With the aim of upgrading their in-house feed preparation process and achieving better nutrition control for their cattle, they decided to purchase a RICHI SFSP66*60 livestock grain grinder as a standalone unit.
This acquisition was not part of a full livestock feed production line investment. The farm already possessed a vertical feed mixer machine and several silos. The new grinder would integrate with existing equipment to streamline their feed preparation.

Cameroon’s agriculture is characterized by moderate-scale livestock farming, with maize, cassava, soybeans, and cottonseed being common crops. For this cattle farming operation, the feed formulation includes a high percentage of maize, cottonseed cake, soybean meal, and pasture residues such as Pennisetum purpureum (elephant grass), which are pre-processed separately before blending.

The livestock feed crusher machine is primarily used to process dried maize grains, soybean meal, and cottonseed cake, which are the core energy and protein components of the cattle feed. In addition, smaller quantities of rice bran, wheat offal, and locally available mineral premixes are incorporated into the final feed blend.
The client required the final ground material to pass through a 2.5 mm sieve, achieving a medium-coarse particle size suitable for mature cattle. This grind size ensures optimal digestibility while minimizing dust generation and feed wastage.
The RICHI SFSP66*60 grain grinder has proven especially effective in breaking down cottonseed cake, which was previously difficult to process using the farm’s older machine.
Though this was a single-unit purchase, the livestock grain grinder is now the centerpiece of the feed preparation process. The client feeds the ground material directly into their existing vertical mixer, blending it with mineral additives, molasses, and forage-based silage. The resulting total mixed ration (TMR) is then distributed to cattle in batches.
This upgrade significantly improved the consistency of feed texture, helping the farm maintain animal health and improve milk yields and weight gain ratios.
All RICHI equipment is shipped via ocean freight. In this case, the livestock grain grinder was delivered to Douala Port, Cameroon’s largest and busiest maritime gateway. After customs clearance, the equipment was transported by truck to the customer's farm, located approximately 350 km inland.
