After about three months of discussions, design work, and comparing options, the customer made their decision. We're pleased to announce that RICHI Machinery has been selected to build a complete turnkey animal feed production project in Saudi Arabia.

The Project Scope

This is a dual-line facility designed to produce two different types of feed:

• 5 tons per hour of alfalfa-based cattle feed
• 10 tons per hour of chicken feed (broiler and layer formulations)

Total combined capacity is 15 tons per hour, making this a significant operation for the region. The facility will serve local livestock and poultry producers with consistent, high-quality feed manufactured in-country.

Why They Chose Us

The customer spent a good three months evaluating suppliers. They looked at equipment from multiple sources — European, Turkish, Chinese. They compared designs, pricing, delivery timelines, and after-sales support. At the end of that process, they came back to us.

The alfalfa pellet production line was a particular point of discussion. Alfalfa can be tricky to process — it's fibrous, can be dusty, needs the right hammer mill configuration. We've done enough alfalfa projects to know what works, and that experience helped close the deal.

What's Included

The turnkey supply includes:

• Raw material receiving and cleaning equipment
• Hammer mills for grinding (different configurations for alfalfa vs. grain)
• Mixers for uniform ingredient blending
• Feed pellet machines with appropriate dies for each feed type
• Counterflow coolers
• Crumbling rolls for poultry feed (if needed)
• Screening and grading equipment
• Automatic bagging and palletizing
• Control system with recipe management
• Steel structures, conveyors, and all interconnecting equipment

It's a complete package — they pour the foundation, we provide everything else and supervise installation.

Shipping and Timeline

Equipment is now being shipped in multiple containers from our factory. The customer has site preparations underway in Saudi Arabia, and we expect installation to begin once the equipment clears customs. Our installation team will head over when the site is ready.

Total project timeline from order to production is targeted at around 6-8 months, depending on site readiness and any local permitting requirements.

The Saudi Market

Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in agricultural self-sufficiency. Livestock and poultry production are priority areas, and local feed manufacturing is a key part of that strategy. This animal feed factory project fits that trend — producing feed locally instead of relying on imports, supporting local farmers, and creating jobs.

The dual-line approach makes sense for the market. Cattle operations need consistent alfalfa-based rations. Poultry operations need their own specialized formulations. Having both lines in one facility gives the customer flexibility to serve both sectors efficiently.

A Few Notes on Alfalfa Processing

For anyone considering alfalfa feed production, a couple things worth knowing:

• Alfalfa is high in fiber and can be abrasive. Hammer mill configurations need to account for this.
• Moisture content matters. Too dry and you get dust problems. Too wet and it won't pellet properly.
• Die selection is important. Alfalfa pellets often need different compression ratios than grain-based feeds.
• If you're also doing poultry feed in the same facility, keep the lines separate to avoid cross-contamination of medications.

We've done enough alfalfa projects to have standard configurations that work, but we always start by testing the customer's actual raw material.
