• The pelletizer should be able to meet the production needs of fish feed and shrimp feed at the same time to reduce equipment investment;
• The conditioning system should be powerful to ensure that the starch is fully gelatinized;
• The whole shrimp fish feed production line design should be energy-saving and environmentally friendly, in line with Thailand's increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
• Special emphasis is placed on the need for small particle size (1.0-1.5mm) and high durability of shrimp feed, which places extremely high demands on the pelletizer.

Raw materials and formula

The fish shrimp feed production line in Thailand project will adopt a raw material supply chain with Thai characteristics. The protein source of fish feed is a combination of imported fish meal (20%) and local shrimp head meal (15%), while shrimp feed uses imported fish meal (25%) and squid meal (10%) to provide high-quality protein.

The energy raw materials mainly use local Thai cassava (30%) and broken rice (20%), which are first processed by a high-efficiency grinder to a fineness of 80 mesh to ensure digestion and absorption rate. 3% cassava starch and 1.5% alginate are added as natural binders. This formula can make the shrimp feed pellets stable in water for more than 6 hours.

Project process design

According to customer needs, RICHI Engineering provided a full set of process design and layout for the fish shrimp feed production line in Thailand project. The project will adopt an innovative "enhanced conditioning + ring die granulation" system.

In the raw material pretreatment stage, various components are fully mixed by a high-efficiency mixer, and the coefficient of variation is controlled within 5%. The conditioning system uses our specially designed enlarged conditioner with a diameter of 1.2 meters and a length of 3.5 meters, providing a conditioning time of up to 90 seconds, so that the starch gelatinization degree reaches more than 85%.

The shrimp feed pellet machine adopts a three-layer ring die design, which can quickly replace the ring dies with different apertures of 0.8mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 2.0mm as needed to meet the various particle size requirements from shrimp fry feed to adult fish feed.

The pelletizing temperature of fish feed is controlled at 85-90℃, while that of shrimp feed is controlled at 75-80℃ to protect heat-sensitive nutrients. The pellets are dried at 80℃ for 20 minutes in a three-layer belt dryer to reduce the moisture content to less than 10%.

Product Specifications

The fish feed products processed in this Thailand shrimp fish feed mill project will be divided into three specifications.

• The particle size of fish fry feed is 0.8-1.2mm, protein is 32%, and fat is 8-10%. It is required to be completely softened but not collapsed in water within 30 minutes.
• The particle size of adult fish feed is 2.0-2.5mm, protein is 28%, and 0.3% vitamin C is added to enhance stress resistance. Special feed for the breeding period is specially developed, which is rich in n-3HUFA and can increase egg production and egg quality.

The shrimp feed products processed by this fish shrimp feed production line in Thailand project are more refined and divided into four growth stages.

• The particle size of shrimp fry feed is 0.8-1.0mm, protein is 38%, and ultra-fine grinding raw materials are used to ensure digestion and absorption;
• The particle size of young shrimp feed is 1.2-1.5mm, protein is 36%, and 1.5% lecithin is added to promote growth;
• The particle size of adult shrimp feed is 1.5-1.8mm, protein is 35%, and mineral content is enhanced;
• The parent shrimp feed is rich in highly unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E to improve reproductive performance.
• All shrimp feeds must meet three key indicators: stability in water ≥4 hours, particle hardness ≥8N, and fat content 6-8%.

In view of the breeding environment in Thailand, the formula has made a number of special adjustments.

Add 1% organic acid combination to improve intestinal health; use 2% yeast culture to enhance immunity; strictly control copper content within the range of 25-30mg/kg to avoid water pollution. These adjustments improved the FCR of fish feed to 1.5 and the FCR of shrimp feed to 1.2, significantly improving the breeding efficiency.

Technical advantages of RICHI fish and shrimp pelleting system

In this project, the customized fish and shrimp feed pelletizing machine system with three-layer conditioner is undoubtedly the biggest highlight.

1. The specially designed enhanced conditioning system is the biggest highlight. The enlarged conditioner provides 90 seconds of full conditioning time, which is twice that of the ordinary system;
2. Built-in multi-layer paddles and steam injection devices make the material temperature rise evenly to 85-90℃;
3. The unique moisture control system can accurately adjust the moisture content to the optimal range of 16-18%.
4. The ring die is made of special alloy steel, carburized quenched and deep cold treated, with a surface hardness of HRC62-64, and a service life of 3 times that of ordinary ring die.
5. Aiming at the special requirements of shrimp feed, we have developed micro-die processing technology to ensure the accuracy and durability of 0.8-1.5mm small-diameter ring dies.
6. The transmission system adopts heavy-duty design, and the main bearing is made of Swedish SKF brand with a rated life of more than 50,000 hours;
7. The reinforced spindle has been tested for dynamic balance, and the vibration value is controlled below 2.0mm/s;
8. The gearbox adopts a forced lubrication system to ensure long-term reliable operation in Thailand's high temperature environment.
9. The whole fish shrimp feed making machine is equipped with an intelligent overload protection device, which automatically shuts down when the load exceeds 110% to avoid equipment damage.
10. The energy efficiency performance is outstanding, and the ultra-high energy-efficiency motor is used. The power consumption per ton of product is only 55kWh, which is 20% lower than the industry average.
11. The noise of the whole fish shrimp feed production line in Thailand is controlled below 75 decibels, and the dust emission concentration is less than 10mg/m³, which fully meets Thailand's environmental protection standards.
12. The real-time monitoring system tracks the main motor current, bearing temperature and vibration value, and warns of potential faults in advance.

Project implementation and operation results

The equipment installation and commissioning of this fish shrimp feed production line in Thailand project took five weeks, and our engineering team made a number of customized adjustments for Thailand's working conditions.

Strengthen the equipment ventilation system to cope with high temperature environment; install moisture-proof devices in all electrical cabinets; and specially design anti-ant measures to protect cable lines. These detailed improvements enabled the equipment to reach 95% of the designed capacity in the first month of production.

Operational data show that the actual capacity of the system is stable at 2.1-2.2 tons/hour, exceeding the contract guarantee value by 5-10%. The product quality fully meets the standards, the durability index (PDI) of fish feed pellets reaches 96%, and the stability of shrimp feed in water reaches 5-6 hours.

The energy consumption performance is excellent, and the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of product is 18% lower than the customer's original plan.

The feedback from the farm is extremely positive. After using self-produced feed, the growth rate of tilapia increased by 20%, and the breeding cycle was shortened from 180 days to 150 days. The survival rate of shrimp farming increased by 8 percentage points, and the uniformity was significantly improved. The comprehensive cost of feed decreased by 38%, and it is expected that the entire investment can be recovered in 2.3 years.

What makes customers even more satisfied is that the formula can be flexibly adjusted according to different seasons and breeding density, such as adding immune enhancers in the rainy season and increasing vitamin C content in the high temperature period. These refined operations have greatly improved the breeding efficiency.

The aquatic feed industry in Thailand is facing an important transformation, and three major trends are becoming increasingly obvious:

The government encourages the use of local raw materials to replace imported fish meal and provides a 15% purchase subsidy; the demand for functional feed is growing rapidly, such as special formulas such as enhancing immunity and improving meat quality; environmental protection requirements are constantly improving, promoting the development of low-pollution feed technology. These changes bring new opportunities for feed processing equipment.
